He laid brick and poured concrete foundations, sidewalks, driveways, and patios for many homes throughout the north side of the city of Chicago. Carl Johanson Jr., his son, then established the current company Carl Johanson & Son Construction Co Inc, and the company focused on concrete only and not masonry. In 1967, the company was incorporated and in 1985, Carl Johanson III joined the company and is now the owner and president.
