This thin asphalt coat (10-20 mils) is designed only to stop vapor transfer from soil through concrete into building. It is brittle by nature and cracks with the concrete when settling occurs. It is the minimum allowed by building code, but think of what basement will be used for before you buy, because it might cost more long term in repairs or damages. Similar to damp proofing, this asphalt based product is great at sealing against vapor, but that is where the similarities end. Waterproofing is modified with rubber to make it flexible and able to resist water pressure over cracks.

The company later passed to Cecil Douglas who ran the company for a few years and then sold the company to his Brother McKay Douglas. Over the years as a company we transitioned from focusing on Damp Proofing to Waterproofing. This change in focus is evident in our Company Name.

We Provide a Termite Pre-Treatment service that meets the requirements for FHA or VA type loans. We can apply the termiticide the same day that we Waterproof or Damp Proof your building, saving you time and money. We work hard to make sure that you are protected as a builder or an owner. Not all termite control companies are alike. Do-it-yourself termite control is possible using termiticide insecticide concentrate, but because of the difficulty of doing a thorough job, the need for special equipment, and the risks associated with an improper treatment, professional treatment is recommended.
