The Door and Window Consultants specializes in consulting and installation of doors and windows. We help you narrow your choices down that would be best for your needs, based on style, function, exposure to elements, desired enhancements, and of course, your budget. Most importantly, we provide good reasons for every recommendation we make - and will discuss that with you for the best desired outcome.
Strange as it might seem, the very first factor you must consider is your installation. Any window or door replacement is a penetration of the shell of the home; therefore, each step of the installation process, from start to finish, is critical. The 'new construction installation requires the removal of the window and its frame, causing a small amount of damage to stucco and interior wall surface. Style and configuration: This will be largely dependent upon the style of your home and your own personal taste.
One of the best things you can do to save money on your energy bill is to install energy efficient windows. Heat gain and heat loss through windows are responsible for 25%-30% of residential heating and cooling energy use. If you are selecting windows for new construction or are replacing existing windows, it's important to choose the best quality of window or door you can afford that work best for your home. There are several decisions to make when it comes to the type of windows you purchase and the type of window replacement that will fit your needs.
Although the term, "new construction" leads you to believe this refers to building a new structure, in this case it refers to the way the window or door is installed. Typically, when a home is newly built, the framing is probably wooden studs. The window is surrounded by a flange, also known as, a nail fin. This nail fin sits against the outside of the structure and the installer attaches the window by correctly applying the flashing, and placing nails or screws through the holes in the nail fin and into the structure behind.
There are few improvements that will give greater impact than replacing your interior doors. We all tend to take our doors for granted and we think little of them beyond their function. In actuality, your interior doors can make a statement of their own or they can be the perfect complement to your dcor. Wood: Solid wood doors come in a wide variety of hard and soft woods, commonly used, such as pine. Wood is warm and generally neutral in your dcor. Wood is in the higher price range for replacement doors.
The Door and Window Consultants, Inc. is first and foremost a door and window installation company. We operate on the foundational premise that the success or failure of a door/window project will be determined by the installation. The truth is, the best product can be ruined by a poor installation and an average product can be made better by a good installation. In the 1990s, the retrofit phenomenon emerged, and along with it, in-home door and window sales increased, which became a very competitive market and one where a salesperson's job was to 'close the deal' on the first visit while only offering one product line of doors and windows without truly understanding the needs of the homeowner.
Although our specialty is door and window installation, we find that some of our customers prefer that we deliver a complete turnkey package. Many of our customers have asked that we apply plantons (raised areas) around the windows before we repair the stucco. Plantons can add dramatic architectural detail, drawing attention to a window or just visually accenting a plain stucco wall. Either one can have stunning results. Victor just left after spending the whole day on stucco and drywall finishes.
