This is a specialty! Lots of potential for bids that are too low because of the inexperienced contractors not anticipating what I, will probably be aware of immediately. Also, understand that most of the contractors out there tell you what you want to hear. I can and will tell you what needs to be done and if it makes sense to repair or go from scratch. Hint, 75% of the time it's the later. Because decks appear to be simple to build, many people do not realize that decks are, in fact, structures that need to be designed to adequately resist certain stresses.
By taking the time and initiative to research deck builders-deck contractors, you have put the odds more in your favor of getting an excellent quality deck that will provide 20+ years of service. I say that the majority of decks to be built in 2020 (every year I say this) will be a detriment to the value and eventual saleability of the homes that they will be attached to. Despite the fact that decks are more difficult and time consuming (building codes) than ever to build, this easy entry business is loaded with under-achievers, know littles, and just plain slobs.
