In a home without any type of basement waterproofing in place, water can enter into your home for many reasons. When rain falls and drains below the soil, this creates an increased water table and significant hydrostatic pressure against the foundation. Cracks then develop within the walls and floors, giving water a place to enter into your home. Gutters that are too close to your foundation also play a factor as this allows for pools of water to build up. This further increases hydrostatic pressure against your foundation.
There are many methods of basement wall straightening. Most of these do not hold up on a permanent basis or have many major drawbacks or problems associated with them. In our research through the years to find and provide the best system to our customers, we have discovered the flaws of other systems. Through the years we have been called upon many times to re-repair walls that were once repaired using other systems that have failed. We will describe our method and how it works, and then we will discuss other methods of wall repair and share with you the basic problems associated with these other systems that we have discovered.
Mud-jacking, also known as slab-jacking, or simply concrete raising, is a process where a slurry mixture is pumped hydraulically under a slab filling any hollow areas under it and causing it to raise back to it's original level. We then pump a crushed-limestone slurry mixture under the slab. As the limestone is pumped under the slab, it forces the concrete to raise slowly. When we reach the desired level, we stop pumping and clean the holes out and patch them. The crushed limestone then dries hard underneath the slab and holds the slab in place.
