When Charles Schmidt, a Dutch immigrant, started Charles Schmidt & Sons Construction in 1920, he wanted to do things differently. Across four generations of family leadership spanning nearly a century, we've never lost sight of that belief. Our story starts in 1920, when Dutch immigrant Charles Schmidt left his job at a brewery in Milwaukee to found Charles Schmidt & Sons Construction. Through four generations of family ownership, we've built a reputation for tackling some of the largest, most recognizable projects in Wisconsin. And we're just getting started. A diverse workforce stimulates innovation, creates opportunities, and builds the local economy.
