I wasn't present at the remodeling site for most of the project. However, Jim maintained regular communication, keeping me informed. He always provided ample notice for me to visit the property, make decisions, and meet with the subcontractors. The entire team displayed professionalism in their work and appearance. Jim ensured that all areas were cleaned up at the end of each workday. Through this process, I not only gained a valuable friendship but also eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with Jim again. Thanks to J. W. Kothmann, I now adore my "new" home, and I recognize that it's all thanks to his dedication and expertise.
Jim Kothmann built our new home in 2013 and we couldn't possibly have had a better experience! He was extremely knowledgeable, experienced, professional, trustworthy, and reliable. From the beginning he was completely upfront about all costs----all the way from the slab to the cabinet knobs----so there were never any surprises regarding expense. The quality of work was superb-----we have been living in this house for almost three years and have had no problems at all. Jim was always on-site during the building process and was constantly in contact with his subs, who were of the highest quality and who definitely seemed to have a great working relationship with him. He made it his job to put the client first, and if there was something in particular we wanted in our new home, he did his best to make it happen. He was always accessible and very pleasant to work with, even when confronted with last-minute changes! He made the process of building a home as stress-free as possible for his clients. We HIGHLY recommend JW Kothmann Enterprises.
Jim showed up at my door during the coldest week in February, with my building plan in his hand. Pipes were freezing and I had no water for my horses. He put the plan down and came out to the barn with me. He broke ice and hauled buckets of water to my horses. I signed up with him a few days later. One page contract simply stating he would do the work according to the plan. From that day on, Jim showed up everyday. He always answered his phone or called me back, fast. I needed someone to hold my hand during this building process and Jim was there. Along the way Jim made some very good suggestions. He obviously takes a tremendous amount of pride in his work. If something was not going to look quite right, he let me know and we made changes as we went along. He worked very well with the decorator that I hired from Austin, TX , and she is now a huge Jim Kothmann fan too. Friends, family and co-workers all warned of how horrible the process was going to be. How stressful it would be. How it would take so much longer than the builder said it would be. I kept waiting for the terrible to happen. It never did. Jim was there everyday. His subcontractors all showed up when Jim called on them. I felt like I was the one the other side...you know the person who is the priority...the person who gets taken care of first. Not the person who is put on hold because another job comes along. Even the small stuff at the end, after the bills were paid, got done and done quickly and professionally. I can't say enough about Jim's subs. They were all professional. They all respected one another and they obviously had a great deal of respect for Jim. I chatted with each and everyone of them along the way. I have their business cards. I can call them if I need to. Great people! What was accomplished in just over four months is somewhat of a magic trick, or so I am told by many. The fact that it was done so well, is not magic. It was Jim Kothmann. I learned a lot about Jim over these past few months. He is good old Texas stock and as a native New Yorker, I now know what that means. Integrity, hard work, loyalty, kindness. Hire Jim!
