EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a type of high performance synthetic rubber. It has been used in roofing since the 1960's, and has proven to be an ideal material for roofs because of its excellent resistance to oxidants and weather conditions. It is especially engineered to resist damage from sunlight. Although how long EPDM lasts is dependant primarily upon weather conditions, poor installation and poor quality of workmanship can drastically reduce the life of your EPDM roof. If properly installed, your rubber roof should last for up to 50 years!
