I reached out to Veteran Garage Door Repair about a week after Hurricane Beryl expecting them to be slammed with work, but I got a reply back about 10 minutes later to schedule a time to come out and look at a damaged garage. I am thinking the worse because the cables were spooled incorrectly on the tension rod roller and the top panel was bent. I made the mistake or trying to repair a garage myself one time and it is not advised if you do not know the proper technique, plus the dead weight of a garage door can be dangerous so I learned my lesson and this is where my technician (Antoine) came in. He inspected the garage door all around and the components and told me, "Ha, easy fix!." At this point i am looking bewildered and wondering if we are observing the same damage. He gets to work and I asked him if I could hang around because I was curious and had questions, to which he replied, "Sure, I like talking about garages and solving problems." From the encounter I learned about torsion, proper bracing, correct alignment, safety stops, resetting the garage door stop level, proper J-hook settings etc. Come to find out the garage door had different lower panels which exacerbated the original damage, but he was able to repair the garage door to working condition, proper alignment with new rollers and now I can lift the garage with two fingers no problem. Found out it costs more to replace a couple of panels due to different manufactures and the parts might not be available anymore due to the age of the garage so the best value is just have the whole garage door replaced if possible. I am extremely happy with the finished result and will recommend them to family and friends. I knew people who shopped around for better prices and I found that Veteran Garage Door Repair was reasonable, they are insured and they stand by their work!!!
