Estey Home Inspections has conducted hundreds of home inspections on all sorts of residential structures. They have seen every sort of issue under the hot Florida sun. Someday Don Estey may write about the most unusual issues he remembers seeing. But today we share the National Association of Realtors list of the most common issues that home inspectors find. Each year the American Society of Home Inspectors conducts surveys related to inspections and U.S. homebuyers. If you are buying or listing a home in Vero Breach, or you are nearing the end of your new home warranty period, please call Estey Home Inspection for a thorough InterNACHI certified inspection to help you avoid expensive surprises.
When you buy a brand new home from a builder, problems may arise over the course of the first year. Builders offer a warranty on a new home and will often repair issues reported within this warranty period at no cost to the homeowner. Warranty periods may vary from state to state. Call us for more information about your state-mandated warranty period. Homeowners frequently forget all about this warranty and let this warranty expire without reporting issues that they have not noticed. They may find out too late that their builder could have paid for any repairs that fall under the warranty.
This morning I was happy to join Mark Seeberg, Sandy Morgan, Chip Landers and the other volunteers from the Realtors Association of Indian River County as we started our 2020 Habitat for Humanity home building project. We do this every year and Estey Home Inspections has been proud to be a part of it for the last six years. Habitat offers a hand up, not a handout, to qualified homebuyers who share in the construction process from start to finish and also help their neighbors as they work toward homeownership.
If you are looking to save on your homeowner's insurance, a wind mitigation inspection is an absolute must! Many insurers offer significant discounts for homeowners who present a wind mitigation report that shows the property has hurricane-resistant features in place that can reduce potential damage caused by strong winds. When the building inspector comes to your home or business, they will check around your home for each specific feature that they are looking for. If your home is not up to standard, they will be able to offer guidance as to how to bring your home up to standard.
Very prompt and great attention to detail! I had them inspect my home and they found that my cardboard box was in need of some mold remediation. Also, they found that there was a high risk of vandalism and fire. Luckily, I have nothing to steal or burn. Thanks, Estey's!!!
Great day today at the Habitat for Humanity Build with many of my friends from RAIRC. 🔨 The home buyer and her children where there to help too. When we arrived at 7:30a there were no walls standing. By the time we left all the exterior walls were framed up and standing on the new house. My...

I'm helping to set roof trusses here with Habitat for Humanity and the Realtors Association of Indian River County. It's always a good time and a great cause.
Here's a look at some old "knob and tube" wiring along with some "rock wool" insulation. At one time this was the l… https://t.co/qcxKBWBRlm
Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New year!
Here we have a plumbing vent with a deteriorated roof flange, caulk and roof cement are holding things together for now, but for how long? Caulk is a temporary fix at best. Going on the roof (when safely accessable) is part of every home inspection I perform.
Very happy to be at this morning's dedication and ribbon cutting with the proud new homeowners of this year's Realtors' Build in Fellsmere! I'm honored to be a part of our great crew with Mark Seeberg, Chip Landers and Sandy Morgan, and thanks to all the food angels and others who helped make it happen.
