In 1932, Jesse Halverson Sr. (my grandfather) started out roofing new homes being built throughout the state of Iowa. When Jesse Halverson Jr. (my father) was old enough he was nailing on shingles right beside his dad. My brother and I were raised up in the roofing business also roofing houses, churches, and big old barns in Iowa. My first experience was when I was about 12 years old I was carrying shingles up a 60 ft wooden ladder to my father as he roofed a church steeple in Lineville Ia.
