Our installers are trained. Boatright Hardwood Floors has training meetings and demonstrations. All employees are given an Apprentice Notebook and it is thoroughly reviewed to ensure that our employees meet specific benchmarks. Boatright Hardwood Floors does not employe subcontractors. Most poured slabs are very uneven with dips and bumps that could interfere with a good installation. The concrete should be flat to 1/8 in any 10 foot span. Concrete slab preparation is usually necessary to ensure a flat surface for a wood floor installation.
Floor is rough sanded to remove the old finish that is on the surface. In the case of top nailed or surface nailed floors, each nail is set by hand prior to sanding. Then areas that are appropriate or requested by customer are filled. Filler must be allowed to dry. Once filler is dry the floor is sanded again with a finer sandpaper to remove any excess filler and to smooth out rough sanding marks. Next a very fine sandpaper is used for the final sanding. The floor is then ready for a stain color or the first coat of finish and left to dry.
