What is a retaining wall? A retaining wall is a vertical structure designed to restrain soil and landscaping to a slope that would not keep naturally. It also is used to prevent erosion and create levels areas for landscaping. A retaining wall is a structure that is built to hold and retain a higher elevation of dirt. Many materials can be used to build retaining walls. Of Course, some hold better and last longer. At Future Outdoors, we build retaining walls with Concrete, Vinyl, Concrete Segmental retaining wall units (SRW) and Pressure treated wood.

Although decks and railings are usually built out of wood, we believe that vinyl is a superior option. Wood can look great at first but requires a lot of maintenance and still has a relatively short lifespan. Vinyl and composite materials last longer and require little to no maintenance. Vinyl holds its color longer and lasts longer than composite materials. Vinyl also generally retains less heat than wood or composite decks. Vinyl requires no maintenance, comes with a life-time warranty and looks beautiful.
