Since our foundation in 1995, Engineering Design Source Inc. (EDSI) has completed more than 2,000 civil engineering and surveying projects in the Bi-State area. EDSI has a team of 30+ engineers, surveyors, construction inspectors, and technicians working from our Chesterfield, Missouri headquarters and office in Collinsville, Illinois. Our staff includes 33% minorities/women. EDSI is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in both Missouri and Illinois.
EDSI, as a prime consultant, provides Phase III engineering services for various projects throughout Districts 8 and 9 including duties which are normally performed by an IDOT Resident Engineer including inspection, layout, daily documentation, keeping a job diary, daily quantities, authorizations, field books, calculations, and testing for pavement marking removal and replacement with new pavement markings. EDSI has performed over 15 projects for IDOT over the past 5 years. EDSI was responsible for the subconsultant portion of survey and construction inspection on Litzsinger Road to resurface/reconstruct the two lane roadway including curbing and drainage.
EDSI, as a subconsultant, was responsible for the civil site design work for a new decant pump station and lime systems building. We performed the topographic survey for the site and provided grading, utility design, erosion control measures, stormwater and sanitary design, and construction details as part of our responsibilities. EDSI is also performing construction observation during the ongoing construction of this project. EDSI was the prime consultant on a 4 year contract with Parkway School District to provide civil engineering and land surveying services for projects throughout the district.
EDSI, was selected as a prime consultant to provide roadway/highway design services in the St. Louis District on an on-call basis. Projects may include widening, resurfacing, pavement reconstruction, utility coordination, stormwater retention, hydraulics, design and analysis of pedestrian and bicycle facilities and lighting. Slide repair, innovative project delivery and/or value engineering, planning and conceptual studies may also be required. EDSI, as the prime and sole consultant, completed the design of two MoDOT replacement bridges in rural Stoddard County.
EDSI, as a subconsultant, was responsible for the analysis and design of structural modifications to the Grand Glaize Wastewater Treatment Facility. The project included modifications to the chlorine contact tank (CCT) and the design of two new junction chambers and a new pump vault. The purpose of the modifications to the CCT was to provide additional tank storage capacity during flood events. All structures were reinforced concrete and included safety railings and access stairs, as needed. In addition, EDSI was responsible for survey.
Our leadership team all came from larger corporate environments. They came to EDSI eager to expand a DBE firm that is more about people, their value-adding abilities, and a priority of servicing our clients. This core team has built a collaborative approach for resolving some of the most difficult infrastructure challenges our region is facing today. George founded EDSI in 1995, and has more than 30 years of civil engineering experience in areas such as roadway/highway design, traffic signalization design, storm sewer analysis, site and grading plans, program management, and project supervision.
EDSI, as the prime consultant, is leading a team providing civil, structural, surveying, MEP, and architectural services to the Airport on a task order basis. This contract allows the Airport to bring our team on for services including surveys, utility location, development of conceptual plans, design of capital improvement projects, cost estimating, inspection and analysis of repair options, preparation of bid documents, and other miscellaneous emergency projects. Our contract is for three years with an option to extend for an additional 2 years.
