First, “All we do is basements!” is just a marketing line for the website. Basement Trust is Avio Construction, which is also Avio Deck Builders, Avio Roofing, GR and EGR Remodeling. (Their websites reuse the same three quotes from former clients and some pictures. The positive review from "Avio Management" is them reviewing themselves, as is the one from Chris Thomas, who is a registered agent of Avio. Other reviews are from associates of Chris Thomas' firm Web Traffic Partners, the marketing company responsible for Avio's various websites.) Real basement specialists would have known to prep the concrete floor before laying another floor over it.
We hired Basement Trust in August to create a bedroom with an egress window in the unfinished portion of our basement, and to add support under our kitchen island. It took 7 ½ months. Our contract indicated work would begin in September and wrap up the beginning of November. They started in October, told us they would be done by Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then the end of February. It took until mid-March with constant prodding – and only after we did the painting ourselves to move the project along.
The work appears structurally sound but haphazardly finished. We had to settle for hollow-core doors and didn’t get the floors we wanted because they waited too long to order the doors and the flooring. Areas of the flooring are uneven. The molding is damaged and not flush with the floor because they installed the molding and then attempted to slide the floors underneath. They mis-hung the closet organizers and left screw holes in the walls when they redid it. We were repeatedly left with messes to clean up, none bigger than the layer of drywall dust that covered everything we had in the basement and required we hire carpet cleaners.
To top it off, they inflated the final invoice.

Had our main basement room temodeled with Basement Trust. Brian was great to work with during what could have been a very stressful time. He made the experience overall very positive. We didn't feel taken advantage of or rushed into anything. The end look and feel of the remodel has been great, and we are really enjoying our new basement!

The best thing about Basement Trust is that they follow through with everything they say. All the allowances ended up being on target, they got the job done actually sooner than expected which never happens. I love that they only do basements. They actually helped me find ways to save money too. If you’re in Grand Rapids and need your basement finished I would recommend them.
