As events from the last few years demonstrate in North Eastern America and Canada, homes, buildings and structures that can withstand heat waves, winter cold, intense storms, flooding, drought, and other effects of a changing climate - as well as problems wrought by our fellow humans (like security considerations) - point to the need to promote Green building materials with resilience. This has been the motivation for improved Building Codes and standards to ensure more sustainable, energy-efficient, comfortable and livable buildings and structures in New York City for example, where in implementing 16 of the 33 recommendations coming out of the Building Resiliency Task Force in 2013, NYC has demonstrated the potential for moving forward quickly with change.
