Schaafsma Heating and Cooling was founded in 1905 by Marinus Schaafsma as Schaafsma Hardware and Heating. In 1918, the heating and hardware were split, and Schaafsma Heating moved to Ionia Ave NW where it remained until February 2007, when they moved to their new location on N Park St NW. The company continued to grow and thrive due to its reputation of providing quality service at a reasonable price. The company stayed in the family until 1993 when Marv Schaafsma, a grandson of the founder, retired.
