Your gas furnace plays a critical part in keeping you warm during the winter and in the operation of your air conditioning system. Furnaces produce heat through the combustion of natural gas in the furnace's burner. This heat then passes through a heat exchange. Air from your home's return air ducts is blown over the heat exchange, thus warming the air. The furnace's blower then blows the warmed air into the duct work, which carries and disperses the warmed air throughout the home. During warmer months, the blower inside a furnace continues to circulate return air throughout the home-only this time, the return air has been cooled by being blown over the indoor coil portion of the home's split-system air conditioning system.

Modern air conditioners are far superior to the systems installed in the years past. These new systems are designed to provide greater comfort and cleaner air while running even more efficiently. What that means is, even on the hottest days of the year, you can rest assured that you and your family can enjoy complete comfort all while lowering your cooling costs. A traditional air conditioning system has two parts: an indoor unit, such as a gas furnace or air handler, and an outdoor unit. The outdoor condenser unit releases the heat that the refrigerant picks up inside the home.

A home air conditioning system operates more than your car, and like your car, it needs routine maintenance to operate in an efficient, safe and reliable manner. Like all things in life it is less expensive to prevent a problem from happening than fixing the problem once it occurs. Do you really want to be in the dead of summer and have your air conditioner break down, when the cause could have been prevented with a precision tune up? When your air conditioner starts to degrade, your system will work harder to produce the same result.
