Security Tip 8/29/16: Light up your life. Bad guys -burglars, robbers, intruders, etc.- love the cover of darkness. Cut back shrubs and install bright lights outside your business, home, parking lot. Make sure that no-one has a place to hide from which they can ambush you.
Security Tip 8/26/16: Plan and drill for emergencies, at work and at home. Imagine fires, intruders, floods, robberies, and other scenes of mayhem. Then imagine what you would do if they happened, and what you wished you had to help you through. Assume that help is unavailable and that you have to manage alone. Then drill for the unlikely eventuality, and gather the supplies, and be ready. Your plans don't have to be elaborate or expensive, just thoughtful. No awful thing is likely to happen but
Security Tip (8/23/16): Carry a compact flashlight on your key chain. For under $20 you can buy a very small, very bright flashlight. Tho it's true that your smartphone has a flashlight function, you wouldn't want to be in an emergency situation and have to break off a conversation with the authorities to use your phone for light.
Security Tip 8/24/16: Trust your instinct. The human brain is a remarkable thing. Barring injury or disease, you never have to think about breathing or walking or making your heart beat. And your brain is always managing your sensory input, filtering that input through your personal web of experience and knowledge. If you get a "bad feeling", that's your internal, automatic early warning system alerting you that something may be wrong. So, take a little walk, look around, settle your mind....
