The Good Guys Heating & Cooling (formerly known as Christensen & Wisnet Heating & Cooling) is a family owned and operated business serving the Fox Valley and surrounding areas since 1966. Our Christensen family has been in the trade for a century. We are a proud 5th generation family business and have earned our reputation over the years as "The Good Guys", using it as a slogan since the early 2000's and making it part of our business name in 2020. We were founded by Earl Christensen and Joseph Wisnet Senior in 1966.
Hydronic heating is one of the most comfortable forms of heat. Enjoy the warmth without moving the air. While there are cons to boilers (no A/C), there are many positive points (very comfortable, linkable to domestic hot water, easy to zone). We have been working with boiler systems for years, and we go above the others with proper valving and shutoffs to help in case of any future emergencies. Below is our current offering of Boiler systems, if you have any questions on the product please feel free to contact us at (920) 734-1436, sales@goodguyswi.com.
Beat the heat in the summer and fall with a reliable, long lasting Air Conditioner. Efficiencies starting at 13 SEER. Air Conditioners cool down the air and remove humidity from your home. There are multiple options to choose from of varying efficiencies. The higher the SEER rating the more efficient the Air Conditioner is, and the less it will cost to cool down your home.
Natural Gas Furnaces and Propane Furnaces are the most popular sources of heat in Wisconsin. We sell Amana & York Furnaces that operate above 95% efficiency or higher. 95% means that means of every dollar you put in, only 5 gets vented out as exhaust. That's big savings over the 60-80% efficient furnaces of the past. The savings really add up!
Here at the Good Guys, we offer a wide array of heating and cooling systems. Take a look at the categories below and click to view the products in that category. While our website is has a majority of our products, there are some brands and equipment we do offer but are not listed as they are used in specific applications. If you have any questions whatsoever please contact us at (920) 734-1436 or sales@goodguyswi.com.
Power surges are the silent killer for home appliances and HVAC equipment. Most homeowners protect their electronics but leave more valued equipment unprotected. Surges can wipe out equipment and leave you searching for answers on what happened and why. They can also cause frustrating electrical "gremlins" that are causing trouble but are so hard to trace down. Furnace and air conditioner warranties typically will not cover damage done by surges. Equipment that does not have complex, costly control boards do not benefit as much as the equipment above.
We offer many helpful services to you. From routine maintenance to installation, free estimates, free second opinions, we can help! Keep your Heating & Cooling system in peak condition with routine maintenance. Tune-Ups are recommended yearly by us as well as most manufacturers. Our tune-ups are detailed and includes checking all critical portions of your equipment as well as cleaning out the equipment. Over the years we have performed an estimated 150,000+ tune-ups. Ask our technician about Tune-Up Loyalty Programs!
The Good Guys are here for you 24/7 if you have problems with your equipment. Our regular office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday (excluding major holidays). If you call during regular hours you can speak directly with our service department. If you have an emergency request you can speak to our answering service and a technician will call you shortly after to offer assistance and come to your home if needed. A Service Call Charge is the cost to get a highly trained HVAC technician with a vehicle stocked with parts and costly tools to your door.
Select from the three choices above to book an appointment with us. Tune-Ups are preventative maintenance visits where everything is working, but you're looking to give your equipment it's annual servicing. Service calls are visits when there are problems with your heating or cooling system. Estimates are when you are looking at getting some costs together for adding or replacing equipment in your home. Be sure to plan out ahead for tune-ups, as we are typically 1-2 months out for tune-ups for most of the year.
Did you get a diagnosis from another company that you do not feel comfortable with? If this was a Doctor you would get a second opinion. Why not do the same with your heating or cooling system? We offer FREE Second Opinions on local competitor's finding. There is no catch whatsoever, we will double check for you and give you in writing if it is confirmed or conflicting with what we found. For us to perform the FREE Second Opinion we need to see the invoice from the other company and what was stated was incorrect.
Having your heating and cooling system maintained is important to prolonging the life of your equipment as well as keeping it running at the peak efficiency. It is recommended by nearly all manfacturers to have this done yearly. Our tune-ups are more indepth than the average HVAC contractor, going deep into components to be sure your systems are in great operating condition. A tune-up doesn't matter on the time of the year. It just matters that is done regularly. That being said we do Air Conditioner tune-ups from May to October depending on weather and temperatures.
Our family has been in the HVAC trades for 5 generations going back a century. Our business, Christensen & Wisnet, started after World War II when Earl Christensen came back from service, and started working for his uncle at Schank & Christensen. When his uncle decided to close up shop instead of selling the business, Earl decided to go into business with Joe Wisnet (senior). Our shop opened up in 1966 on Outagamie Street in Appleton, WI. We delivered fuel oil to the valley as well as full service to their heating and cooling systems.
