This apprenticeship program allows you to earn great wages and benefits while you learn, and it provides you with both the classroom education and on-the-job experience necessary to be a finished product upon completion.
The purpose of the IBEW is to organize electrical workers and raise the standards of living for all by promoting reasonable work methods, secure employment and more. See our contractor directory below, which is a list of potential employers for IBEW members in the Wichita, Kansas area.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union #271 has a long history in Wichita, Kansas. We were chartered on April 10, 1914 and have been at our location at 1040 S. Broadway since 1946. For over 105 years, we currently represent more than 900 construction electricians, maintenance electricians and teledata workers. In 1918, Shelley Electric and Southwestern Electric became the first two electrical contractors to sign with us, and they are still signatory today. In 1954, the Boeing maintenance electricians voted to be represented by the IBEW #271 and still remained with us after Boeing was sold to Spirit Aerospace.
Meet our officers and board members at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 271 in Wichita, Kansas. "The labor movement did not diminish the strength of the nation but enlarged it. By raising the living standards of millions, labor miraculously created a market for industry and lifted the whole nation to undreamed of levels of production. Those who attack labor forget these simple truths, but history remembers them." -MLK Jr.
