Williams Heating Inc was founded in 1929 by Clayton J Williams and his son Digby E Williams, after the closure of the family sawmill on Judd Creek. The business was awarded one of the earliest Shell dealerships, and its initial customers were primarily chicken farmers who needed Kerosene to warm the chicken houses. Clayton left the island after a few years, and Digby ran the business, assisted by his son Clayton D Williams until he retired. By that time, home heating oil had become the primary product, along with servicing oil fired furnaces and boilers.
