Kenneth (Ken) Fender draws upon years of managerial and construction experience to lead Baker's Washington, D.C., office - a unit with $250+ million in annual revenue from projects as diverse as turnkey, high-rise frame projects, intricate design-build and rehabilitation projects. Ken is vigilant in producing high-quality projects on time in a safe environment for crews, clients and other project team subcontractors. Ken also heads up Baker's design assist efforts with valued clients and is heavily involved in various preconstruction and constructability processes.
As we look back at the milestones from 1968 to today, we're grateful for every person who helped form Baker Concrete over the years. The Baker brothers, Dan, Jim, and Ken, quit their jobs to form their own contracting company, Baker Cement Contractors, Inc. Baker Cement was awarded its first commercial job with the construction of the First National Bank in Hamilton, Ohio. This project moved the company from the residential area to the commercial market. Baker received its first contact of more than 1 million square feet, a place finish job for a Montgomery Ward Distribution Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
