Ideal Cabinets began back in 1970 in Christiansburg, Virginia, because Ken Rakes wanted to take care of his family. He decided that he could do that by selling a quality cabinet product to other people for their families; and that is how a family business with the purpose of making other families happy was born. For nearly 50 years, we have been one of the best known and most well-respected kitchen design firms in Virginia. In that 50 years, we've built and renovated more kitchens and baths than we can count.

Residentially, we offer a wide range of fully custom and semi-custom cabinets from some of the best cabinet makers in the business, including Elmwood fine custom cabinetry, Plain & Fancy, and Seville. We also offer the full line of Waypoint and Marsh Cabinetry. We are also now offering outdoor cabinetry through Nature Kast. We feature several displays and samples in our showrooms, as well as many surface ideas, and hardware samples. Commercially, we offer specialized options that are fully customizable from the Ideal line of cabinetry which we have named "Idealatoga."

Ideal Cabinets is proudly offering Commercial Cabinetry to the Roanoke and New River Valleys. This cabinetry is provided to General Contractors on a bid basis; to designers and architects on a design build basis, and directly to facility owners by negotiated bid. Our cabinetry is applicable to commercial, institutional, financial, and health care applications. This cabinetry meets or exceeds AWI400B [Architecture Woodwork Institute 2nd Edition Quality Standards 2014] custom grade frameless full overlay standards.
