Family patriarch, Arthur Kautsch, left his home in Missouri and traveled by train to the Rio Grande Valley were he planned to invest in citrus. In 1932, he established Kautsch Lumber in Alamo, Texas. Arthur's son, Marvin Kautsch, served his country in WWII, then went to work alongside his dad in 1945. Kautsch Lumber continued building a stellar reputation in the Valley and welcomed Marvin's son, John, into the family business in 1971. John led the business into the True Value organization in 1982 and soon thereafter created The Siding Source, which has grown to be the largest vinyl siding distributor in South Texas serving McAllen, Brownsville, Mission, Edinburg, Pharr, San Juan, Alamo, Weslaco and Mercedes.
