The year was 1957. Abner and Billie Becerra decided to leave the family farm in Golden and start an open air market. Originally focusing on fresh produce and gardening supplies. Soon people, on their way to the mountains, started asking for grocery items picnics and such. So groceries were added and later a space was rented to a butcher, Herb Edwards. When I-70 came through we were forced to move the Market across the street to our current location. In 2002 we rented the entire grocery store portion of our business to the meat market to focus our energy on the Garden Center.
