Maurer's Sanitary Cleaners is a full service cleaner that specializes in garment care, draperies, fire and water damage restorations, and wedding gown preservation. Opened in 1915 as Sanitary Cleaners, the business was purchased by Joseph Maurer in 1931 and renamed Maurer's Sanitary Cleaners in the 1950's. Joseph's granddaughter Anne Chaffee began working at the family business, with her father Joseph and Uncle Tom when she was five years old, and continues to this day. Both Anne and her father Joseph have served as President of the Michigan Institute of Laundering & Drycleaning (MILD), a non-profit that serves to educate and promote the laundering and dry cleaning industry.
