When performed correctly mulching is one of the most effective practices to maintain plant health, (Please, No Volcano Mulching).Trees that are properly mulched are more vigorous and have higher rates of survival, than those covered with turf grass. Mulching beneath yourtreesand shrubs will help retain soil moisture, moderate temperature extremes, add organic matter back into the soil, reduce soil compaction and erosion. A mulched area will have fewer weeds and can also beautify your landscape by covering areas of bare dirt, or unsightly surface roots!

Our urban soils are altered in ways that they can be unfavorable for tree or root growth and development. These soils usually have a higher alkaline PH, which are compacted, low in organic matter, may be depleted of essential elements and have a reduced capability for water filtration. Having a plan that will emphasize practices early in the tree's life to improve soil conditions will be more beneficial and economical than waiting till your established tree's show signs of a problem. Mulch is a forest product, made from hardwood trees. We shred and size the raw material through grinders and screens into small uniform size pieces. The shredded mulch is then aged in large piles. A decorative wood chip mulch with a long-lasting, deep terra-cotta color.
