Low voltage outdoor lighting provides endless opportunities to enhance your landscape. In addition to a variety of fixture styles and finishes, low voltage LED lighting can be programmed to specific themes. Dim lights provide an intimate atmosphere for small gatherings. Brighter lights can open up a space for larger parties. Whether you have an existing outdoor lighting system that needs repair or are looking for an enhancement to a new or proposed landscape. Avant can help design a low voltage outdoor lighting system to enhance your landscape's curb appeal.
Avant Gardening & Landscaping has promoted low and chemical free methods for lawn and garden maintenance since our inception. We were "green" well before most people knew what that meant. We strive to provide a lawn care approach that is healthy and safe for both our clients and the environment here in Madison. The key to healthy turf starts with rich, healthy soil. To achieve this we offer a solid compost and liquid compost tea regimen to improve the biology and the structure of soil. We use the highest quality compost supplied by Purple Cow Organics.
From Spring to late Fall our nursery is open for retail sales. Starting in May we open our gates to anyone interested in purchasing high-quality, locally grown perennials, trees and shrubs. Located outside of McFarland in central Dane County, we are a short drive from Madison and surrounding communities. Starting Monday, Oct. 5th we will be open by appointment only. Please call Avant Nursery at (608) 838-2054 for more information or to schedule an appointment to purchase remaining plants. As landscape designers it's our business to create specialty plant combinations for pollinators, rain gardens, and seasonal displays.
Avant Gardening & Landscaping exemplifies the difference between a typical landscape installation, and one that showcases the artistry of professional craftsmanship. We specialize in unique approaches by combining stone, wood and water in creative ways you won't find anywhere else. We love what we do, and look forward to helping you realize your property's full potential. Every custom designed project promises aesthetic, functional living spaces combined with quality installation by experienced craftsmen.
Our landscape design process starts by listening to and assessing your needs. We don't believe in cookie cutter designs. Every yard deserves a unique design, tailored to fit your lifestyle and desires. After a thorough evaluation of your situation and desires, we work collaboratively with you to create eye-catching and inspirational design ideas. We can handle the entire permitting process so that you can rest assured your project meets all the criteria required by local government. Managing storm water and grading is the first thing to consider in any landscape project.
At Avant Gardening & Landscaping our goal is to customize a garden maintenance program to meet your needs, desires and budget. We don't believe in the "one size fits all" approach to Wisconsin landscape maintenance. Each property and each homeowner is different so we strive to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing your yard is being cared for the right way. Ultimately, it's about giving you more time to spend in your yard instead of working on your yard. Our maintenance manager and foremen have degrees in Horticulture, Ornamental Horticulture, and Crop & Soil Science in addition to extensive experience in the field.
Winter is the perfect time to prune shrubs and trees, especially since all the leaves have dropped it makes it easier to see the structure. Another perk - most pests and diseases that are attracted to open wounds of trees are inactive this time of year, so less chance of infecting your plants! Dormant pruning is strategic pruning (or trimming) that is done during a plant's dormancy period - winter or early spring, before the buds break. The plant is pruned aggressively, reducing its overall size by thinning out the canes, removing dead, diseased and crossing branches.
A water feature can be anything that showcases or utilizes water in the landscape. Ponds, fountains, pondless waterfalls, rain gardens, and stream beds are just a few examples. Incorporating a water feature into your landscape can create a peaceful atmosphere while supporting wildlife habitat and creative learning. Ponds instantly add visual interest, especially when combined with unique hardscaping, plantings or colorful fish. If the backyard oasis you envision includes the addition of koi to your family, we can help keep them as healthy as possible.
