That is what we do. Our landscape professionals custom-create, install and maintain landscapes and gardens that look as though they had indeed been created by nature. Based in western North Carolina, we are experts in natural landscape solutions for extreme slopes, drainage challenges and the special needs presented by micro-climates. Reflecting the architectural elements of your home, our custom landscapes utilize natural boulders, stone, wood, native and specialty plants, shrubs and trees, and rich soil to create natural and inviting lawns, gardens, play areas and outdoor living spaces.
No other landscape feature contributes more to an outdoor living space than a water feature. Over the years we have built quite a few. Our water features are built like permanent structures. We concrete all the coping stones and walls around the structure so it will hold up to all kinds of uses. Kids, pets, and general up-keep can take their toll and ours can stand up to all of it.
Once the grading and hardscapes are completed. Then we are ready for the plant material. From the design to the right selection of plants have chosen. Growing and purchasing quality plant material free of disease and pests is a must. Proper shipping, handling, and holding are directly related to the survival and health of the plant. We have excellent facilities for growing and holding plant material until the day comes that it is time for planting at our clients property. Understanding the timing for digging field grown material will allow us to plant twelve months out of the year.
One of our specialties include planning and installation of irrigation. Newly planted landscapes require supplemental watering thru the first Summer. Turf Areas are healthier with additional water also. Drip Irrigation is an economical way to provide that watering without a huge cost. These systems take into account the need for not wasting water. Emitters are placed at each new plant only watering the root zone instead of the whole area. The emitters are rated for a certain quantity of water such as 2 and 4 gallon per hour.
Appalachian Naturescapes offers all sorts of mowing from, roadways, pattern stripes for residential lawns, to bush hogging fields. Our team is equipped for a wide range of mowing services.
Nothing is worse than having a poorly designed driveway that doesn't circulate or drain properly. Vehicular access to a property is critical in the ability to enjoy a place. These hardscapes require proper handling of drainage due to the impermeable surface area that creates a "load up" of volume. AppNatInc has a great deal of formal and practical experience dealing with lots of different scenarios. They have to work. Then they can be attractive elements in your composition.
We can design something as simple as a foundation planting or as elaborate as a premier outdoor living space. This service can be as personalized as if you hired an interior decorator for the outdoors or "just make it work and beautiful." In our designs we deal with and consider: drainage, slopes, curb appeal, specialized plant selection and vehicular and pedestrian circulation, just to name a few.
Mulch serves several functions in our landscapes. Newly installed landscapes do not grow very much for the first year. We are basically just trying to get them to survive the first summer. No matter when they are planted we have to get them thru those July and August dog days. We do not add lots of compost and organic matter to our landscapes because we have to mulch anyway to cover the exposed soil. The first year the mulch breaks down quickly and builds the topsoil. So about the time that the plants are ready to start growing the root zone is improving naturally.
Poor drainage has the greatest opportunity for property damage. Proper drainage is arguably the most important element in landscapes. Along with grading it is one area that has very little room for error. When this is not given the attention that it deserves, water will always reveal the quality present, (or lack thereof). Many of the stream beds like this have french drains under the decorative stone that provides a way for volumes of water to leave the space quickly.
