Our staff of 90 are among the most knowledgeable in the business. Many have over 10 years of experience and have distinctions including Illinois Certified Nursery Professionals, Illinois Certified Professional Florists, and more. Countryside was created in 1959, when Bill and Katherine Hameder made a business of sharing their knowledge of, love and compassion for flowers, shrubs and trees with many local patrons. The present owners, Richard Harms and James Riedl, purchased Countryside in 1973 and have expanded the nursery to 28 acres.

Countryside offers everything you need for decorating. Unique gifts and ornaments, pre-lit trees and wreaths, fresh greens and cut trees, thousands of Countryside Home Grown Poinsettias and some of the most breathtaking displays to get your creative juices flowing!

The Greenhouses at Countryside are your source for healthy, robust houseplants, vast selection of succulents and rarely seen orchids from Hawaii! In Spring, we are your source for locally grown annuals, perennials, vegetables, roses, and mums. During Winter, we are your tropical retreat from the cold harsh weather. During the Holidays, we are your go to place for beautiful Countryside grown Poinsettias! Our experienced staff is committed to growing the healthiest plants and is dedicated to making you a successful gardener.

Countryside's professional landscape team provides services that help you create and maintain inviting outdoor living spaces. Perfectly selected plant varieties, paver and natural stone patios, as well as specialty rain gardens or water features are all designed, installed and maintained by our experienced and professional landscape team. We are proud to be recognized as an Authorized Unilock Contractor. Design: Consultations are available in- store or at your home to create plans and estimates.

Our Countryside team consists of the most knowledgeable professionals in the green industry. Our loyal staff has been providing outstanding customer service for over 60 years. Our passionate and dedicated staff strives to provide you with both the accurate advice and quality plants that will make your garden a success. Our main purpose is to beautify your home inside and out. A twenty-five year veteran of the industry, Johanne Pieterse (JP) began his career working with his family's cut rose greenhouse in Amstelveen.

Countryside continues to be open for in-store shopping. To meet the guidelines set to safely keep our state open, Countryside continues to follow the procedures and safety measures set out by the Illinois Department of Public Health. We have automatic hand sanitizer dispensers at every entrance and throughout our shopping areas and greenhouses. Carts and shopping baskets are wiped down after every use. When you are ready to make your purchases, feel free to step up to the cashiers and while waiting please abide by social distance guidelines.
