Urban Oasis' extensive experience in the landscape architecture and construction in the beautiful Pacific Northwest can be seen all around the Seattle Metropolitan area. From installation of native plants to complex modern outdoor kitchens and structures, our team can handle projects of any size and scale. We hired UO to replace plantings, suggest new plants, and install and then repair a dry stack wall and build a stone walkway.

Urban Oasis was formed by landscape architects, Carrie Culp and Trevor Daley in 2010 after working together for many years. The company was born out of a belief homeowners are looking to invest in their homes for their own enjoyment as well as for a long-term increase in the value of their property. We bring expertise in all aspects of landscape design and construction including outdoor structures, kitchens and fireplaces. Over the years, Carrie and Trevor have developed a specialization in outdoor structures that increase the usability of Seattle area properties.

Decks are a real estate agent's first choice when advising clients on investing in outdoor spaces. Perhaps this is because they can line up with the finished floor of the home and feel like a true outdoor extension. There are benefits to using composite lumber but there is often nothing better than natural wood. At Urban Oasis, we strive to educate our clients on their material choices so that they can make the best decision for their new deck. Fencing is most often installed to maintain privacy or to keep kids and pets safe, but fencing is so much more!

Frank Lloyd Wright said that the hearth was the centerpiece of the home. We believe that is true for your backyard as well. The added warmth from an outdoor fireplace or fire pit will extend the amount of time your family will enjoy your backyard spaces and will draw people outside in the evening. Outdoor fireplaces can also be used to create privacy for an outdoor living space, blocking unwanted views. Additional heat can be added using electric or gas heaters incorporated into covered patios and decks.

Every space needs a focal point, and water features may be the perfect choice. These additions to your composition can drown out background noise, attract birds and add serenity to your garden space or front entry. We specialize in the design of anything from small, recirculating urn or column water features to elaborate waterfalls and can guide our clients in making appropriate choices with regard to ease of maintenance, sound level, and overall aesthetics.

Whether modest or elaborate, a good outdoor kitchen should be designed to be highly functional for its users. At a minimum, an outdoor kitchen should include a grill, ample counter space, and storage for large utensils. The kitchen should always be sited to include the cook in the party. From there, anything is possible and many people opt to include bar seating, refrigeration, a sideburner and more. We suggest slab countertops and backsplashes with masonry that coordinates with the home's decor or other elements being designed into the yard.

The many impacts of well-designed outdoor lighting can truly tie together a project, increase street appeal and enhance safety and security around the home. The variety of types of control via a transformer allows for as simple or complex a system as desired. Lights can be zoned and dimmed - or even color-controlled for the best tone to highlight plants and landscape elements. There is an app that allows control of color and temperature of light from a smartphone. At Urban Oasis, we believe that low voltage lighting is a critical element of landscape design.

Carrie, Trevor, and their team are expert in this field. What sets them apart from other companies we consulted, is their tight communication and integrated approach throughout the design, permitting and construction process. There will always be unexpected occurrences in any project. It is important to select an experienced team that has "seen it all before" and is able to adjust quickly and efficiently with a minimum of disruption to cost or schedule. Urban Oasis is that team. We recommend them without reservation.
