Doors Open Lowell offers an insiders look into many of Lowell's magnificent historic buildings. Now in its 18th year, Doors Open Lowell is the community's signature preservation, architecture, and design event, the first of its kind in the United States when it debuted in 2002. This free annual event held during National Preservation Month celebrates Lowell's architectural heritage, urban living, and culture that makes the community a creative and exciting place to live, work, and visit.
What images come to mind when you think of a home? For many textile workers in Lowell, boardinghouses were a place of community and opportunity, but also a place of discomfort and isolation.
May is #PreservationMon th and we have a special Junior Ranger activity for you! The Junior Ranger program is open to all ages, and we would love to see your creativity! National Parks and historic buildings are special places that can help us discover different worlds. What worlds can you imagine...
Even though Doors Open Lowell is unable to take place this weekend, the Lowell National Historical Park will still have some great virtual activities taking place like this event on Lowell's boardinghouse history tomorrow afternoon from 2-3pm. Check it out!
