Bears By Your Side was created in 2013 by Cruz Fregoso, a senior at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, California. He decided to help children cope with the Sandy Hook Elementry School disaster by sending teddy bears. It was soon clear that those children were overwhelmed with teddy bears from all over the country, so Cruz decided to help children in crisis in his home area of El Dorado County. Cruz's mother, Rebecca Giles, posted a story about the bear idea on Facebook, and Cruz received several financial contributions, several bears, and offers to help with a website.
We are very excited to be delivering 25 Bears to Progress House on Saturday. The Bears are all boxed up and ready to go find their new friends. ❤
Bears By Your Side has a new bear angel.... Cathy Pinder! Cathy delivered 5 darling bears to us yesterday along with bags and bags of polar fleece and stuffing. Thank you so much for your interest and participation in our program.
Bears By Your Side would like to thank Barsha Elzey, Claire Slade and all the participants at Marin Needle Arts Guild, Inc. for making 40....yes 40.... bears for us to distribute along with a wonderful financial contribution towards our non-profit status project. A number of these bears went to children in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization in El Dorado County. Thank you....THANK YOU....all.
Another shout out to one of our youngest Bear Angels.....Pais leigh Watson. Thank you for volunteering your time and efforts to bring a smile to a child's face.
Cruz had the pleasure of providing Todd White of Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County with Bears for their "littles". Lots of darling bears will find new homes with some terrific kids.
