Surfside Pools & Construction Corporation is a full service design build firm based in Bedford Hills, NY. We have an expansive portfolio of work in high end residential projects in New York and Connecticut. Founded by Bjorn Rafoss in 1969, and incorporated in 1971, our body of work encompasses design and construction of gunite pools, spas, waterfalls, rivers, masonry of all types, sitework, excavation, boulders, drainage work, outdoor lighting, fencing and custom carpentry. We have spent the last 46 years designing, building and collaborating with architects, landscape architects, interior designers and most importantly with our customers to bring out the best in each particular project.
We have been designing and building custom gunite pools, spas, waterfalls and watershapes for 46 years in Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties in NY and Fairfield County in Ct. All of our business has come through direct referrals from architects, landscape architects, designers and most importantly our own clients. We have many repeat clients that we have built two or even three pools for as they moved from home to home. We have watched children grow and then built pools for them at their own homes.
Surfside Pools & Construction Corporation is a company dedicated to building pools and spas for families who want their kids to have a safe, fun swim at home. We work in Westchester, Putnam and Fairfield Counties, and the Town of East Hampton in Long Island. Surfside Pools is a custom pool & spa specialist that can help you create a beautiful and safe environment in your backyard. For the last 46 years our goal has been to provide a long term, face to face relationship with you and your family for decades.
Bjorn Rafoss was born and raised on a small farm in Norway. He was surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, rivers and the sea. The experience of living, skiing, hiking and fishing in that environment has always been a source of inspiration. In Norway Bjorn was formally trained as a carpenter and cabinet maker. After emigrating to the US in 1956 he continued to work in that craft. He spent two years in Korea and Japan serving the US Army. Upon his return to the states he began working as a construction super for Superior Pools.
All of us at Surfside Pools believe in the concept of a minimum impact, sustainable approach to the construction process. We recycle materials all the time. The stone and brick that we remove from jobs when people want a change are always palletized and stored in our yard for future use. They can be reinstalled on another job, where someone is trying to match an old patio. Ledge rock that we remove to build a pool is always reused on site or removed from the site to be used somewhere else. Trees that are removed to make way for a pool are either split into firewood, or removed from the site and recycled into mulch.
