We are specialized in hardwood flooring installation, refinishing, sanding, resurfacing, staining and coating. We are also specialized in hardwood flooring repairs and maintenance. We install prefinished hardwood floors, engineered wood floors and laminate flooring. We install and cover staircases, trims, mouldings and medallions. Changing the layout of a room when remodeling a home will most likely result in ugly holes in your wood floor. Those holes will have to be patched. The estimator will determine the type of wood and check the subfloor. For a hardwood floor installed on top of a wooden subfloor the patching is easy and the only challenge is determining the species of wood and the grade. If the existing floor is installed on wood or wood beams than the installation will be a little more difficult as the installer has to create support for each individual board or a partial subfloor depending on the situation.

When talking about hardwood flooring installation we are referring to solid wood flooring installation (3/8, 1/2, 5/8, inch thick) of any type or species of wood, with an unfinished or a factory prefinished face. In this category the only major difference will be between the unfinished and the prefinished hardwood floors, as the thickness or the width of the wood planks does not affect the process of installation very much. In the unfinished category the most common wood is Red Oak followed by White Oak, Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Hickory, Ash and Pine.

After all the time and money spent sanding and preparing a wood floor ready for staining it is important to get the next step right. Before staining commences, it is critical to ensure that the right preparation process is adopted. In fact, staining can be the most important step of finishing or refinishing a wood floor. The complexity of staining a wood floor varies according to the color of the wood. Any darker wood stains will reveal more of the sanding imperfections than you will get with a lighter wood.
