Why hardwood floors? Hardwood floors are durable, long lasting and beautiful. The natural colors and patterns found in natural wood create a comfortable and inviting living environment. Is it true that hardwood floors provide a cleaner home environment? Absolutely. Carpeting attracts and holds many allergenic spores, dust mites, bacteria, fungi, animal dander and other unhealthy microbes. These disturbing irritants are dispersed every time you vacuum. What is the most popular hardwood used in flooring?

Soap and water, polish, wax or what? Take the guesswork out of how to clean hardwood floors and go from dull and grimy to gleaming and gorgeous in a few easy steps. Before you grab a bucket of water and a mop, it's best to find out how your hardwood floor is sealed-if at all. Why? The finish, not the wood type, determines how you clean and care for the floor. Surface-sealed floors: Most new wood floors are sealed with urethane, polyurethane or polyacrylic. Surface-sealed floors are stain and water-damage resistant and easiest to care for and clean: Sweep, mop and you're done!

It is our pleasure to assist you on selecting the perfect wood, stain, and finish to provide your home with an heirloom quality flooring that will last generations. Afford-A-Floor will design the perfect flooring for your home, from options including solid hardwood flooring, engineered hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, carpet, exotic hardwood flooring, and much more. Now you can enjoy the experience of a flooring boutique right in your own home.

Depending on what type of sub-floor you have may determine the type of product you are able to use. There are three main types of installation, floating installation, nail-down and glue-down. This type of installation is for engineered floors only. First check the sub-floor is level and dry. Any unevenness must be leveled with a suitable leveling compound. Cut out the bottoms of the door frames to allow the wooden floor to fit underneath. Spread out a 3mm underlay (recommended Duralay Excel with incorporated moisture barrier).

When we talk about hardwood flooring, we're usually think about " thick planks that are 2 " wide. Though you may find narrower widths or a thinner gauge, this is what is considered the classic strip wood floor. Most hardwood flooring today is manufactured from the tha American hardwoods (red oak, white oak, maple, cherry, white ash, hickory or pecan trees) or the newer exotic hardwoods, such as Brazilian Cheery, Tigerwood, Ipe, African Teak, etc. The three most common hardwood flooring types today are Solid hardwood flooring, Engineered wood flooring and Longstrip hardwood flooring.

There is nothing quite like Afford-A-Floor flooring to really transform a room from a simple living area into a focal point for family and friends to gather. Afford-A-Floor Carpets come in many shapes, styles, textures, colors and patterns. Choosing the right carpet installation for your home in Northern New Jersey can be a challenging task. There are many other costs associated with purchasing carpets that the buyer is not aware of. Today's carpet offers a wide variety of choices in style, fiber composition and color.

Laminate flooring combines natural looking designs with a tough, durable finish and can be used in almost any area of the home. Laminate floors also offer realistic designs and can replicate the characteristics of the popular handscraped hardwood floors. Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic flooring product, fused together with a lamination process. Laminate flooring simulates wood (or stone, in some cases) with a photographic applique layer under a clear protective layer. The inner core layer is usually composed of melamine resin and fiber board materials.

Every floor wears out during the years. It's longevity depends on the traffic and the quality of materials used to polyurethane the floor. When the time comes to refinish the floor, our experts will help you to decide what type of refinish needs to be done. We use only the latest sanding equipment that uses the "Less Dust" process. And, of course, we will cover all of your furniture and valuables with dust covers to ensure their safety. Once the wood is cleaned of all scratches and stripped of old polyurethane, the natural color of the wood can be left or you can add color by staining the wood.
