A Family Business: L.P. Murray & Sons is a family business, passed from father to son for four generations. Current owner Leland "Skip" Murray and his son Nathan Murray, continue to look to the future. L.P. Murray & Sons is a fourth generation earth work company located in Cape Elizabeth. We've owned and operated in the State of Maine for more than seven decades. We continue to carry a reputation of quality workmanship. Our company has maintained the highest level of integrity and safety. We have carried a track record of quality workmanship from our first decade of business to our seventh.

We've been in business for more than 73 years. Our family company was started in 1946 by Leland "Big Jim" Murray. Early on the company specialized in earth work and blasting services (one of only two companies doing so in Maine). The company built a reputation for hard work and honesty. In 1969, after the death of "Big Jim", his son, Leland "Jim" Murray Jr., took over the company. He expanded the company's services to include septic systems, water and sewer lines, pyrotechnics and the quarrying of blue stone.

L.P. Murray & Sons has the expertise, knowledge and experience to work on the Casco Bay Islands. We've made hundreds of barge trips over the years with equipment, dump trucks and aggregate. We are equipped to handle the tide restrictions, barging and scheduling hardships required for island work. Our 34-foot Young's Brothers boat, used to transport the crew, enables us to customize and maximize the time working on the island and on your project. Our list of completed projects on the island range from a three-lot subdivision, house lot site packages, seawalls, road work, road grading and septic system installation.

L.P. Murray & Sons has been demolishing and hauling demolition debris, large and small projects alike, for over a decade. We are a State of Maine permitted demolition hauler with a fleet of dump trailers, triaxles, and dump trucks. Equipment includes large excavators with thumb, small excavators with thumb, large and small loaders, skid steer loaders and demolition hammers. We handle everything from the removal of garages, houses, barns and large commercial buildings to concrete foundations. We've been in business for four generations and more than 72 years.

Whether it be large storm drain projects, deep in the ground, for local towns and municipalities, or surface drainage of a wet area in your back yard, we have the pipe lasers, trench boxes, compactors and equipment to complete the job. As a State-of-Maine-certified septic system installer, we will provide you with the knowledge and expertise required for a high-quality system. We are experienced in conventional and alternative systems and have installed them in extremely difficult locations and tight spots. With a fleet of excavators - from very large to very small - we have the right equipment to fit any job. Our crew averages more than 20 years of experience installing systems. Though we have installed thousands of systems, we continue to re-certify our team leaders to stay on top of the latest updates and technology in the industry.

L.P. Murray & Sons offers a full array of excavating services including lot clearing, stump removal, drainage, trenching, utility work, land grading, ledge removal and complete site work packages. Our crew averages more than 25 years of excavating experience in residential and commercial jobs of all sizes. We excel at working with reputable general contractors and various code enforcement officers in local towns and municipalities. LP Murray & Sons was awarded with the "Contractor Prequalification" status by the Maine DOT.

L.P. Murray & Sons excels in commercial snow plowing and snow removal services. Our fleet of large and small loaders with snow pushers and snow blowers, in tandem with our line of various sized dump trucks, make any job possible. We also offer our own salt and sand products to apply to any roadway, parking lot or driveway. In situations where an owner may want black pavement but no sand, a liquid calcium sprayer is available upon request. Our superb equipment coupled with our own local snow dump make us an excellent choice for your snow removal needs.
