Our company had it's humble beginning in the early 1990's with one man in his backyard building clothesline poles, using his children's Radio Flyer wagon as his toolbox and the picnic table as his welding bench. His purpose at the time was to supplement the family income. When orders began to backup, Don realized he would have to make a choice between staying at his full-time employment or taking a risk and starting a new business. On January 2, 1996, he opened the doors to Agar Welding Service & Steel Supply, Inc.
We custom design and fabricate residential and commercial railing to meet the needs of each individual customer. There are many different styles available, and your railing can include decorative touches to add beauty to your property. First, a detailer and/or fabricator will visit the job site to take accurate measurements. They will bring these measurements back to our office for one of our detailers to draw. Once the drawing is complete and approved by the customer, our fabrication crew will begin to build the railing in our shop.
Our facility is located at 93 Firehouse Road, Walnut Bottom, PA and consists of a 16,000 square foot shop. We are in the process of building a new building which will give us an additional 6,400 square feet of space. Various pieces of equipment are located within our shop for use in fabricating steel products including a plate shear, press brake, plasma table, ironworker, multiple production saws and multiple production welders. The CNC Plasma Cutter is a computer driven machine which cuts a multitude of shapes and thicknesses of steel and aluminum plate for use in fabrication as well as for decorative purposes.
On average, Agar Welding Service & Steel Supply, Inc. employs 20-22 people. This includes five office staff, two crane operators, as well as multiple certified welders, shop fabricators, field works/installers and laborers. Don has been the main point of contact for many of our customers since he started the company in 1996. He has recently retired and enjoys traveling the country with his wife as often as possible. When Don is in town, he oversees the management team and occasionally assists our crane rental department.
