Grub damage is similar in appearance to Chinch bug damage except areas of brown grass will not have any roots; it will be spongy when walking on it. You can lift grass from the ground because it will not be attached to the soil because the Grub Worms eat the roots. Preventative treatment is the best. We recommend Bayer Complete or Triazicide Granules, made by Spectracide; it can usually be found at your local garden shop or Home Depot / Lowe's. Treat when planting Sod by applying the insecticide on top of the soil prior to planting to assure proper rooting.

After the hangover has faded from your New Years celebrations, there's very little essential work that needs doing to your lawn. It is, however, important to avoid using it in very wet conditions and in frost, as this can damage the lawn. If the weather improves a little, debris such as leaves and twigs should be removed from the lawn. If the weather doesn't improve, make sure you spend this downtime servicing your lawn care equipment. It's the month for Valentine's Day and it can be tempting to show your lawn some love with a hint of milder weather.

It is important to note that in order for us to install sod the area must be within 2% of grade. Then we install the sod, and patch in the corners and overlaps. If you want us to remove any old sod, we will be happy to do so for a nominal charge before grading. We will thoroughly water the newly sodded turf and then use a sod roller to compact the entire area to ensure soil to soil contact and to take out any lumps and irregularities from your lawn. When the on-site supervisor is satisfied that the job is complete, he will instruct his crew to clean up the area, and leave you instructions for taking care of your grass in its early rooting stages.
