We're excited for you to experience our passion for the canopy coverage here in North Carolina. Rest assured that your home or business is in good hands with Heartwood tree services. The first step is to reach out and connect with our team to schedule a consultation with one of our expert arborists. In the beginning, there was a truck, a dog named Chainsaw, and some tree climbers. 40 years later, Heartwood has evolved from a group of passionate tree climbers, to an award winning, nationally recognized industry leader.
Trees provide innumerable benefits to us. From lowering energy costs and raising property values to our general well being, green spaces are vital to us and the world we live in. At Heartwood, we offer a variety of planting services. Our ISA Certified Arborists can help you devise the best plan for your landscape, source your plant material, install the trees and shrubs, and provide all the aftercare necessary for your plants to flourish and thrive. Required spacing: minimum 35 feet on center between both existing and replacement trees in this category.
Our experts can set up health care programs for pre and post construction activities. These services may include; Vegetation and Soil Protection Zone preparation/restoration or minimally invasive utility trenching using the Super Sonic Air Knife. Improving the soil your trees grow in is essential for longevity. This includes rebuilding soil structure through decompacting and organic amendment treatments. By decompacting the soil we allow air and water, essentials for tree root health, to penetrate the area the roots inhabit.
We prune trees to keep our homes safe, the neighbors jealous, and the value of our homes increasing. We see our role in Charlotte as being good stewards of the environment. Trees are some of the mightiest structures on Earth and they deserve tender loving care (commonly referred to as TLC). Much of our time is spent in the crowns of large trees. We are up there for a number of reasons, but primarily, we are pruning trees to reduce their chance of failure. Using ropes and gear specifically made for climbing trees, we move around the trees, removing deadwood, broken limbs, limbs with tight angles of attachment, and reducing weight on horizontal limbs.
Once all of the woody material has been ground, the stump grindings are pushed back into the hole that the grinder has created. This is a service called "grinding and back-filling the stump". All of the material is left on site, in a pile usually about 10%-20% larger in diameter than the original stump. At this point, the area is ready for another tree to be planted. If grass is going to be replacing the tree, haul as much of the grindings away and amend the soil to provide a fertile bed for the grass seed to take hold.
Plant Health Care (PHC) is a holistic approach to caring for your trees and shrubs with the goal of improving and maintaining the overall health and aesthetics of your landscape. A true PHC program or what we call a Tree Love and Care (TLC) program uses different strategies including cultural, biological, and traditional insect and disease control methods. Cultural methods are the foundation to a healthy and sustainable landscape. This involves thoughtful selection and placement of new plant stock, proper planting techniques, adequate watering, mulching, soil improvement and pruning to promote health and mitigate tree failure.
