NPI is unique in that we are both architects and highly experienced builders. We build what we design, and we design with a builder's practical knowledge. We are not contractors who hire architects, and we are not contractors and architects who are party to a joint venture agreement. The common project delivery method in use today is a relatively recent development, in place only since the mid-1800s in the United States with the advent of the general contractor. Prior to that time buildings were designed and built under the direction of a single individual, a guild master or master builder.
