A former client saw some of my aerial photos and videos on my Instagram page - @mhuberarchitect. Margaret Park is an urban park in St Paul, Minnesota. I was asked by the City of St Paul Parks and Recreation to participate in community meetings to help redevelop the park which needed some enhancements. Below is a video of my final walk through of a small toilet room building we designed. The Environmental Landscape Management crew are working hard to provide a ‘level playing field' for our kids.
I am not sure why, but I love furniture design. Maybe it's because furniture is a focal-point accessory that you physically engage with. Maybe it is because I am constantly searching for something more inspiring then an over-stuffed Lazy-Boy I can relax in after a long day without the embarrassment of having a monstrosity in the Family Room. Whatever the case, take a look at some of the below efforts to 're-think' the art of sitting. Click on the images to enlarge.
Some friends of ours asked if we could come up with a concept to finish off their lower level. Its primary purpose would be for overflow entertaining and a place where the kids could hang out. We came up with some ideas and some basic drawings and they took it from there. I wanted to drop in and see how it turned out. Take a look! Cabinets are starting to be installed! We are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel on the interior. The exterior got a fresh coat of paint and I will begin doing some studies to add a wrap around porch in the coming weeks!
I was fortunate to be the local Project Manager for Michael Graves and help create a Pavilion here in the Twin Cities. Ironically, I only met him while in a bathroom in Washington DC. We are having fun with this project! An overall plan and design direction is set but the main discussion over the past month related to the roof form. The flat roof was out of the running early. The Owner's had always desired an offset barrel roof but the shed roof was intriguing as well. Each had their pros and cons as it related to the interior and exterior function, aesthetic and costs.
Just another day in the life of an architect. We are finalizing the finish selections for a new $4 million office facility and making all of those selections can be overwhelming. We thought this video might help explain a bit of that process.
