ALA is open to all architects and professions related to architecture. Our members hold individual memberships and specialize in all types of architecture. Some members are international leaders in the architecture profession while others have award-winning city and suburban practices. Others are building industry suppliers or allied professionals and leaders in their markets. Students and new graduates are encouraged to join to connect with architects who they can learn from. ALA values an open, collaborative culture, where we all help each other succeed by providing superior education, celebrating inspiring work and fostering personal connections.
ALA has supported its members in practical ways for nearly two decades. We believe more is a wonderful thing! That's why we provide top notch industry speakers, the opportunity to earn 12 CEUs in one year, affordable dues, free contracts, essential programs on code, and connections with peers, suppliers, plus best practices. ALA was founded in 1999 by architects who previously served as Board Members of other architects' associations. Shortly thereafter the Illinois Society of Architects (ISA), the oldest independent state organization in the country, combined efforts with ALA, bringing respected expertise and historic significance to the Association.
Due to numerous requests from both professional and affiliate members, ALA has a Continuing Education Program (CEP) that certifies Providers offering approved educational programs for ALA members and architect attendees. To learn more, visit our "Become a Provider" page. GBCI program guidelines - Provide documentation of program acceptace by GBCI for GBCI learning credits. QUALITY CONTROL of the programs will be strict and adhered to through random audits and checks by members of the ALA's Education Committee.
