Kideney Architects has contributed to Western New York's architectural heritage since 1926. As the oldest architectural-specific design firm in Buffalo, our 93-year legacy is a testament to the quality of our services and our commitment to our clients. We build long-term, successful relationships by engaging our clients throughout the design process. Our personalized approach allows us to provide creative solutions which reflect our clients' vision. We welcome and encourage their involvement so that we may produce facilities that are functional, architecturally significant and comfortably accommodate those who work and live within them.
The new building includes mixed commercial/residential/hotel space situated atop a six-story parking structure which serves as the structural base for the building. The former Christian Center building was adapted to provide hotel support space, including banquet and meeting spaces and a pool/fitness center. Kideney Architects, in partnership with JMZ Architects, was selected for the design of a new STEM Building at the North Campus of Erie Community College in Amherst, NY. The donor sign concept is representational of all the people contributing to the common goal.
Our tradition of service dates back to 1926 when a 27-year-old architect and the firm's first president, Jim Kideney, hung his shingle. That was the same year that Mike Shea opened his movie palace on Main Street; it was the year in which Jim Kideney received his first big commission, the Meadowbrook Country Club. There were also a few residential projects and some modest rehab work to help sustain this young architect. Then, in October of 1929, the stock market crashed heralding the beginning of the Great Depression.
