AIA Maryland is a state component of the American Institute of Architects. Our mission is to serve our members, advance their value, and improve the quality of the built environment and the practice of architecture in Maryland through legislative and governmental action.
Based in Washington, D.C., The AIA has been the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners since 1857. For the latest news, visit the AIA Pressroom. With nearly 300 state and local chapters, the AIA serves as the voice of the architecture profession and the resource for our members in service to society. AIA Maryland is a State Component of The American Institute of Architects. Incorporated in 1965, AIA Maryland is managed by a Board of Directors elected from each of the three state chapters - Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay and Potomac Valley.
Whether you're dreaming of a new home or planning commercial space, involving an architect from the start is the key to success. You may also use the AIA Architect Finder to locate architecture firms in your area. You can search by city, state, ZIP code and surrounding area (U.S. ZIP codes only), or by firm name. Hiring an AIA architect could be the best decision you'll make for your residential or commercial design project.
All committees are led by a Chair and open to all AIA members for participation. Committee chairs provide assistance to committee members and provide feedback to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis. We welcome and encourage the participation of AIA Maryland members to volunteer their time to work with any of these committees. Interested members may contact either the committee chair or the AIA Maryland office at info@aiamd.org for further information.
