The AIA has been advancing the value of architects and architecture for more than 150 years through AIA member resources, as the collective and credible voice of the profession, and the definitive source for architecture and design. Take a moment to browse through the online home of AIA Pittsburgh, A Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. There is something here for everyone, whether you are an architect or simply appreciate the importance of architecture! Combining photographic and digitally produced images with powerful story-telling and dialogue, the film showcases the powerful impact of architecture and design, the valuable contributions of architects and designers, and the profound influence on our region's ever-changing landscape, development, and quality of life.

Established in partnership with the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Pittsburgh Architecture Foundation (PAF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance architects' meaningful and collaborative involvement throughout the Pittsburgh region, fostering civic activism and leadership, promoting sustainability, and improving the well-being of our communities. PAF connects local architects with opportunities to support communities in our region, strengthen pathways for the next generation of architects, and engages the public and decision-makers on the role of design in building an environment that supports human wellbeing.
Are your needs specialized enough to warrant building a custom-designed home, or would a tract home built to certain specifications suit your needs just as well? An AIA architect can help you decide. The cost of building your custom home and its anticipated value should be consistent with real estate values of the surrounding neighborhood. When analyzing your situation, an AIA architect might ask if you want to make your house more livable for yourself, or make it more salable to the next owner.
The American Institute of Architects, as part of the global community, champions a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion within the profession of architecture to create a better environment for all. Achieving this vision has a direct impact on the relevance of our profession and the world's prosperity, health, and future. We, the members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), stand together to reshape our profession: to confront those who make the workplace intolerable through harassment and abuse; to give voice to those whose voices are stifled for fear of retaliation; to resolve systemic inequities in our profession that block full access by many who seek it; and to break down cultural, ethnic, racial, and gender barriers that prevent our profession from reflecting the society it serves.

AIA Pittsburgh improves the built environment in which we live, work and play by raising the standards of architectural training and practice, supporting our members efforts to design healthy, safe and connected places and spaces, and promoting the value of architectural services to the public.
