DRPILLA's structural engineering practice provides a complete range of structural design services for clients on projects of all sizes and complexity - from designing luxury urban buildings to engineering the most ambitious yet small-scale structures. We have been responsible for the structural designs of office buildings, hotels, residential, educational, performing arts, sports and medical office facilities.

DRPILLA provides comprehensive geotechnical engineering services for field exploration, foundation analysis and design, and foundation design recommendations for infrastructure and other structures. Using our opinion of expected conditions, we design a sensible work plan to explore the site. Using our resources of conventional drilling/sampling, in-situ testing and nonintrusive and geophysical exploration tools, we execute viable work plans using safe, current and effective tools and procedures.

DRPILLA provided structural engineering design for this rustic two-story house raised above the flood plain on forty-foot cypress columns. The walls are canted outwards to create the effect of a glass-bottomed boat and flood interior spaces with water-reflected light, while drawing the eye out to views of Harris Neck River and the sprawling wetlands of a national wildlife refuge. In plan, the house bends to the north, like a swamp creature, hovering high on its thirteen legs. The open living-dining area leads northwards to a sequence of private spaces, including a master suite tucked into the narrow "prow" of the house with three-sided views of Blackbeard Creek and the surrounding marsh.

DRPILLA provided structural engineering design services for a minimalistic writers studio cantilevered on a boulder in the woods set back from the main house of this Greenwich, CT residence. The studio features expansive views of the serene forest and a collection of over 1,500 books. The writers haven is meant to resemble a ruined outbuilding that has been rediscovered and repurposed. The largest windowpane weighs 2,400 pounds and stretches 16 feet long. The structure's steel frame is engineered to withstand blows from fallen trees during hurricane conditions.
