The Congressional Fire Services Institute has extended the deadline for submitting applications for its national fire service leadership awards to February 1, 2021. The extension will allow more time to complete the applications following the holiday season. On December 27, 2020, the President signed into law the Consolidated Appropriations Act for fiscal year (FY) 2021 (H.R.133). The bill passed both chambers of Congress last week by significant majorities. The Associates Club is a program designed primarily for individuals seeking to support CFSI's mission to educate members of Congress about the challenges facing our nation's one million first responders.
Whether you are a firefighter, emergency services responder, manufacturer or fire service leader, the United States Congress is more aware of your concerns because of the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI). The strength of CFSI lies in its National Advisory Committee (NAC), comprising 39 trade groups, issue organizations, and professional associations including the leading fire service organizations in the country.
The strength of CFSI is its National Advisory Committee (NAC). Composed of 38 trade groups, issue organizations, and professional associations including the leading fire service organizations in the country, the NAC provides a forum where the national fire organizations conduct discussions and develop consensus on important national fire and emergency services issues. During a meeting, any NAC member can submit a resolution that seeks CFSI's support on an issue. If the NAC approves the resolution, it is presented to the CFSI Board of Directors for final approval.

Established in 1989 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute, CFSI is designed to educate members of Congress about the needs and challenges of our nation's fire and emergency services to help them understand how the federal government can support the needs of our local first responders.
