Plaster is a strong and highly absorbent material with many uses. Common uses of plaster in ceramics include mold-making, bat production and creating surfaces for wedging and drying clay. Here at The Ceramic Shop, we carry a number of different types of plaster which vary in strength, set time, and application. No. 1 Pottery Plaster is a great all-purpose plaster. It is commonly used for making slip molds and press molds. It is ideal for this purpose because of its fine particle size, which is great for capturing details.

Here at The Ceramic Shop, we carry several products for the glass artist. Because glass is basically clay's slicker cousin, there are several overlaps in materials. If you are interested in slump molds, check out our cool bottle molds by Creative Paradise. With these slump molds, you can take an empty wine or beer bottle and slump it into a functional form. In addition to our glass products, we also carry many glass kilns. Here at the Ceramic Shop, we carry bisqued tiles of various shapes and sizes so you can complete a variety of art or decoration projects. These tiles have already been bisque fired and are ready to paint or coat with glaze and fired up to cone 04, and are great for art projects, school or classroom projects, or for custom household projects -- they work great with our underglazes or low-fire glazes for easy and effective decorating. We sell tiles individually and by the case.

At The Ceramic Shop we just love molds! We carry a large variety of molds for both small and large forms, as well as for texture and design. Our hump molds are convex plaster forms that provide a template for slab work. An evenly rolled-out slab of wet clay can be laid over top of the hump and pressed against it. Because plaster is highly absorbent, water will be removed from the clay, and the slab will be easily released. These molds are great for creating functional wares as well as sculptural works.
